“You will meet all different kinds of characters of dogs who you will be sure to fall in love with. As well as the amazing dogs, you will meet amazing people that will become family for a few weeks.”

- Louise, volunteer at Hopeland

Volunteering at Hopeland can be an incredibely rewarding experience, especially if you’re already a doglover. Since volunteering at an animal shelter is very hard work, it is very important that you enjoy being around a lot of animals, and that you wish to give them the love and care they need.

As a volunteer at Hopeland, you’ll live in a shared housing facility with fellow volunteers. Since we do not believe in small cages, a lot of the dogs live in the house with the volunteers. This means that you’ll be spending a lot of time with the dogs, learning their individuel behaviour and personalities. It also means that volunteering at Hopeland involves a lot of cleaning, so you have to be willing to get dirty!

When you’re not spending time with the dogs, you’ll get the chance to be with the other volunteers, and get to know different people from all parts of the world. You’ll also get the oppourtunity to learn a lot about Greek culture by spending time with our founder, Natasa, and her husband, who are both extremely kind and will make you feel welcome and taken care of.

Volunteering at an animal shelter is both phsically and emtionally demanding, but the love you get in return is one of the most rewarding things you’ll experience and makes it all worth it.
